TezDash is a dashboard app for Tesla vehicles that talks to your car over Bluetooth. It has no account and no server of its own. This page explains what leaves your phone, where it goes and why.

Data from your car stays on your phone

What TezDash shows (gear, speed, power, position, battery, climate, tire pressures, doors, navigation destination and what's playing) is read from your car over Bluetooth and shown on your phone. TezDash does not upload it, except for the parts listed below that are needed for a feature to work.

Kept on your phone

Map (Google Maps)

The map is provided by Google Maps. To show it, your phone requests map images for the area on screen from Google.

Route line (Google Routes)

When a destination is set on your car, TezDash sends the car's current position and heading and the destination's coordinates to Google's Routes service to plan the line it draws on the map. No name, VIN or other identifier is sent with it.

Album art (Apple)

To show album art, TezDash searches Apple's public iTunes catalogue with the title and artist of the song playing in your car.

Ads (Google AdMob, free plan only)

On the free plan, you can choose to watch an ad for more dashboard time. Ads are provided by Google AdMob, which may collect your device's advertising identifier (only if you allow tracking when iOS asks), IP address, approximate location, how you interact with the ad, and diagnostic data such as crash and performance reports, to show and measure ads and keep them working. In regions that require it, you are asked for consent first. TezDash Pro shows no ads. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Google's handling of all the data above is covered by the Google Privacy Policy; Apple's by the Apple Privacy Policy.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled by Apple. TezDash never sees your payment details; it only learns whether a purchase is active.

Permissions

Bluetooth is used to find and talk to your car, including while the screen is locked so the connection is not lost. Tracking (if you allow it) is used only by AdMob, as above. The garage button opens the Shortcuts or myQ app on your phone (or myQ's App Store page if it is not installed) and sends nothing itself.

Children

TezDash is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

Changes to this policy appear on this page with a new date.
